What You’ll Learn

The Reno Practical Nursing program is designed to prepare you for the NCLEX-PN licensure exam so that you may qualify for entry-level employment as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).

Graduates of our program learn to perform a variety of nursing tasks, including some of the following job responsibilities:

Assessing patients
Recording medical histories
Monitoring adverse reactions to medication
Collaborating with patients, families, and community resources to provide holistic care
Delivering basic nursing care procedures to the highest standards of medical, ethical, and legal principles
Promoting the practice of practical nursing and health advocacy

Admissions Requirements for the Reno PN Program

To enroll in the Practical Nursing program, our admissions requirements include the following steps:

1 Submit proof of high school education or equivalent (must be 18 years of age before clinical rotations)

2 Complete our Practical Nursing prereq course within 12 months before the scheduled start date of your PN training

3 Complete a background check during the prereq course

4 Schedule an interview with the program director

5 Undergo a physical exam, including immunizations and TB testing

6 Pay all fees and tuition costs for the PN prereq course (if applicable)

7 Start class

Practical Nursing Program with a Career-Driven Curriculum

As mentioned above, our goal is to prepare students for PN licensure and entry-level employment. To achieve this mission, we developed multiple learning resources to nurture and accommodate our students. For example, Reno students can access various labs in our simulation center.

This center contains high-fidelity simulators and sim-view technology, including a Medical Surgical Nursing Intensive Care Unit (ICU). The simulation center also features two furnished patient rooms: one for Pediatrics with infant and child simulators, a crib, and a youth bed; another includes a birthing simulator, a bassinet for newborns, and a delivery bed.

Our curriculum is tailored to prepare jobseekers for the increasingly complex demands of nursing. Many of our PN courses cover industry-relevant topics, such as:

The Reno Campus

Spacious and sleek with blue-tinted windows, our Reno Campus is located near the I-580 freeway. Although we maintain ample parking for students, we are still within walking distance of public transportation and the Meadowood Mall.

Students at our Reno Campus gain a well-rounded education, one that can prepare them for a successful career in healthcare. We pride ourselves on offering our students an active learning experience that includes hands-on exercises, nursing simulation labs, and access to the latest medical equipment.

Skills Labs & Class Caps

Classroom utilization is carefully planned so that all students can effectively participate and benefit from their use of the skills labs as well as other resources. In addition, most classes are capped between 30 to 40 students to help everyone feel recognized and engaged.
